Invest in the Best for Your Detroit Diesel Engine
By combining a DPF, DOC and SCR into one product, the One-Box became a significant aftertreatment development. This compact system comes with a number of operational benefits. However, its working life is, unfortunately, shorter than that of the truck itself. That’s why our team at Roadwarrior developed the first aftermarket One-Box. This brand new replacement One-Box part is designed to help you get a million miles out of your diesel engine.
‘…Roadwarrior developed the first aftermarket One-Box…’
Since 2019, we’ve been the only aftermarket manufacturer to offer a One-Box replacement, and this head start has given us the R&D time to develop the most efficient replacement parts on the market. We will soon offer four One-Box aftertreatment systems, for Detroit Diesel, Volvo, Freightliner and Western Star. This is just one of the ways we take the problems out of your aftertreatment.
Diesel Oxidation Catalyst : Our DOC contains a Metalcor® catalyst that treats the exhaust stream, converting the hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide and water.
Diesel Particulate Filter
Our DPF captures particulate matter and soot, further reducing polluting emissions. The trapped matter is then burnt off the filter by passive or active regens.
Selective Catalytic Reduction
With the help of the DEF injected into the exhaust stream, the SCR catalyst significantly reduces NOx emissions, converting them into naturally occurring nitrogen and water vapour.
The Benefits of a One-Box
The benefits of One-Box exhaust aftertreatment technology over individual systems include frame flexibility, fuel efficiency and of course emissions reduction.
The compact design of the One-Box frees up valuable frame-rail space. This results in greater flexibility for larger fuel tanks, APUs and other chassis-mounted accessories. The original all-in-one design reduces installation time on the assembly line and offers weight savings. However, it requires more time and money to diagnose and service.
That’s why For Detroit Diesel engines, we also developed a modular One-Box, which can be split into three separate parts (DOC, DPF, SCR) and serviced or replaced individually. By including Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) in the design, the One-Box offers additional environmental benefits. The DOC and DPF reduce carbon emissions; meanwhile, the diesel exhaust fluid injector releases DEF, which the SCR uses to reduce NOx emissions.
Roadwarrior’s Replacement One-Box Advantage
At Roadwarrior, our replacement One-Box was the best-selling aftermarket model in America in 2019 and 2020. As part of the DCL technology group, we included advanced Metalcor® catalyst technology for improved emissions control and fuel efficiency. We use only the highest-quality materials to offer your diesel engine a long service life. This policy has additional benefits like reduced DEF and fuel consumption.
Our improved design also resolved the issue of low NOx conversion efficiency from DEF buildup in the SCR mixing chamber. This problem is common in GHG14 generation One-Boxes—especially when the engine runs in humid climates, and high-speed and high-load conditions.
The Downsides of a One-Box system
There are many advantages to an OEM One-Box system. However, one major disadvantage is that you often need to replace the entire system when one part breaks.
Good maintenance, regular regens and cleaning your DPF can all extend the life of your exhaust aftertreatment system. Without these measures, a DPF can become clogged with soot and ash, which can cause cracking and eventually DPF failure.
Having it professionally cleaned after 200,000 hours can significantly extend your DPF’s life, but eventually, it will need replacing. At Roadwarrior we offer competitively priced replacements, designed to meet or exceed the high standard you’d expect from OEM models.
