Max Goulet runs the regular feature La Minute à Max (Max’s Minute). In it, he explores ways to repair and replace broken HD truck parts and interviews industry experts on new product releases. In his latest video, Max interviewed Roadwarrior’s Sales Director Dave Jerman about our new fault code diagnostic tool! The Diesel Decoder is a Bluetooth-enabled scan tool that displays DTC fault codes and useful truck data through an app on your phone.
What is La Minute à Max?
La Minute à Max is part of the HD trucking YouTube channel Juste Des Pièces. The channel was created by Réseau Dynamique—a well-established truck dealer network based in Quebec, Canada. With 9 dealers and 9 associates across Quebec, Réseau Dynamique prides itself on its expertise in the trucking sphere.
What Is the Interview About?
Max opens the interview in French, but switches to English 41 seconds in when Roadwarrior’s Dave Jerman joins him. The interview covers how the Diesel Decoder works: you just plug it into your 9-pin or OBD connector port, open the app and then connect via Bluetooth. Dave also describes the Diesel Decoder’s primary purpose: to help drivers ‘fix their trucks right the first time’ by identifying exactly what is wrong with them. After this, he explains the other data the decoder’s software can scan for: DTC codes, vehicle information, component data, trip data, FMI and SPN parameter numbers and more.
During the interview, Max asks key questions about the Diesel Decoder, like:
- Is it easy to understand?
- What kind of truck performance data can the decoder software give you?
- Can you access data on hard braking and fuel economy?
- Does the Diesel Decoder work with a standard 9-pin and an OBD2 connector?
In the interview, Max also covers topics like the difference between the free software features and the premium paid option. The goal is to answer questions that an owner-operator, fleet manager, or even small-scale mechanic shop would have.
What is the link with Diesel Laptops?
Roadwarrior developed the Diesel Decoder in conjunction with Diesel Laptops. Our scan tool connects to a Diesel Laptops app on your phone or laptop called the Diesel Repair Platform. The app displays DTC fault codes, identifies their meanings, and provides repair advice. Diesel Laptops is a well-established supplier of diagnostic tools, expert training for diesel technicians, and repair advice. They are also North America’s largest distributor of diagnostic equipment from companies like TEXA, NEXIQ, Cojali and more.
