Description
Need to Replace Your 390-0679 Caterpillar Construction DPF?
It’s been almost 100 years since Caterpillar equipment entered the scene (or the jobsite), and in that time, it has come to dominate the off-road heavy machinery market! Nowadays you’ll find Cat machines building, demolishing, and upgrading roads and bridges, airports and marine ports, houses and businesses worldwide. With the introduction of Tier 4 emissions controls in 2014, all Caterpillar equipment now also includes emissions control DPFs. These aftertreatment parts are a legal requirement, and do an important job, but it can delay deadlines if they develop issues on the worksite. Luckily for site managers, Roadwarrior’s D2015-SA is an exact-fit replacement for your 390-0679, 390-0659, 375-0946, 20R-3667 or 20R-5626 Caterpillar DPF!
Why Choose a Roadwarrior Replacement for Your Cat Construction DPF?

The construction part of our catalogue includes replacements for 55 Caterpillar DPFs and multiple DOCs. Alongside Cat construction parts like D2015-SA, we also stock aftermarket equivalents to Volvo Mack, Deutz, Genie, John Deere, and Komatsu emissions control devices.
Our parts combine OEM reliability with the aftermarket’s competitive prices and shorter wait times, keeping costs down for you and your clients. However, we don’t believe in cutting corners or using cheap materials. We have worked hard to build trust with our customers and suppliers, and we’d never put the Roadwarrior name on anything below OEM-standard! We’re able to combine superior performance and lower prices because of our parent company, catalytic expert DCL International. Through us, our customers benefit from DCL’s industry-leading research, catalytic advances, and superior materials like Metalcor. Investing in a Roadwarrior part like D2015-SA when your 390-0679 DPF fails lets your Caterpillar equipment maintain optimum efficiency within emissions regulations!

Even easier when you factor in our hassle-free warranty and industry-leading record of honoring warranty claims.
What Do Tier 4 Regulations Mean for Construction Machinery and Emissions Control?
To ensure that it can meet large power demands, most heavy construction machinery runs on diesel engines. According to the Diesel Technology Forum, construction applications make up as much as 55% of U.S. off-road fuel use! To reduce this environmental impact, the EPA brought in compulsory Tier 4 standards for diesel-powered, off-highway heavy machinery manufactured or sold from 2014. These regulations require the use of emissions-control devices like D2015-SA in all new construction equipment. These devices boost fuel efficiency and vastly improve the air quality at construction sites, protecting workers from breathing toxic exhaust.
What Do Construction DPFs Do?
The exhaust from diesel-powered construction equipment includes soot, ash and particulate matter (PM). Instead of being released at jobsites, this toxic gas is filtered through your aftertreatment system. To avoid becoming clogged up with this soot, Caterpillar DPFs frequently have to clean themselves. On-highway machinery like semitrucks generate very hot exhaust gas to burn away the soot in a process called passive regeneration (regens). This is possible because they drive fast enough for long enough distances to create extremely hot exhaust. If the exhaust isn’t hot enough, the semitruck can inject a dash of fuel just before the DPF (active regeneration). Unfortunately, many off-highway construction engines dont run hot enough for passive regens and have to rely on active regens!
What is a 390-0679 Caterpillar DPF?
Cat construction machinery is at the heart of a global infrastructure network with customers spanning countless industries. Their parts are durable, long-lasting and fuel efficient and are the benchmark of excellence in construction equipment. However, they face the same emissions control struggles as other heavy equipment manufacturers. While aftertreatment design has come on considerably since Caterpillar DPFs were first introduced, they still don’t last as long as the machinery they’re used in. Cat DPFs like 390-0679 are built for extreme use, but constant exposure to soot, ash and PM reduces their working life! In machinery that can’t perform passive regens, construction DPFs have to withstand even more pressure than those in on-road applications.
What Are the Most Common DPF Issues in Cat Construction Equipment?
Caterpillar DPFs like 390-0679 have to be tough to match the grit of your construction equipment. However, your DPF probably won’t last as long as theCat dozer, excavator, or wheel loader it runs in. Their working life partially depends on how intensively you use them, how regularly you initiate regens and your routine maintenance. For example, after 3,000-4,000 hours in construction machinery, and 250,000-500,000 miles in semitrucks, a DPF becomes too clogged with soot to regenerate. When this happens, you’ll need to remove it and have it cleaned. This may take a few days, but it will dramatically increase the life of your DPF and engine! If you continue operating with a severely clogged Caterpillar DPF, the exhaust gas won’t be able to get through. The growing pressure will eventually crack the DPF, and you’ll have to replace it with a part like our D2015-SA.
A Cat construction DPF like 390-0679 can also be contaminated by upstream engine issues like turbo failure. On top of this, oil and coolant leaks can cause hydrocarbon poisoning and DPF failure. If your DPF is damaged or malfunctioning, your skid steer for example will trigger a DTC to let you know. If your DPF is beyond repair and you need a quicker fix, why not consider a Roadwarrior replacement like D2015-SA?
